Yeah! And I happen to think they’re quite beautiful. I just wouldn’t go near them. Those kids are little turds though, I must say.

You know, whenever I read stories like this, especially on the BBC website I get really annoyed, because there is never an opportunity to comment on the stories I would like to comment about .

I wanted to ask the “So if we want to remain slim, should we be shunning fat people?” the following question:

Are you clinically insane? If so, are you being treated or are you a victim of the so-called Care in the Community service? Perhaps your relatives should have you sectioned.

Hey, I’m going to be shunned, so it’s only fair.

Yeah, it’s not exactly that their saliva is poisonous — they don’t have any venom — but anything they bite basically gets sepsis immediately.

Also, gila monsters poop in their tails. (This is not true, but a falsehood I’ve been spreading for a long time to see if it will get traction.)

Correct me if I’m wrong but isn’t their saliva poisonous? I seem to remember watching a doccie about them and I think it was mentioned that their mouths are so filled with bacteria that their saliva can kill.

First thing I thought when I wiki’d coconut crab: Do they taste good? There’s also pic on wikipedia with blue and orange crabs; they’re really pretty. Also, I don’t think they’d try to crack your head unless it smelled like a coconut.
