Miss Conduct, I would so buy that book. People keep asking if I’m bummed that I missed out on the big wedding spectacle, and I’m like, “Are you kidding me? That’s the best part!”
Mazal tov! For the first six months after our wedding, we kept talking about how happy we were to NOT be planning a wedding anymore…I already knew it, but you are a smart woman. :)
And awakeintheworld, I’ve been married for over 2 years, and seeing bridal magazines can still make me delighted that we are no longer planning a wedding. There were things that I loved about our ceremony and party, but the planning, oy. It brings out the crazy in all family involved.
And yay for skipping out on The Huge, Expensive Wedding! We did the same. :) I missed having The White Dress until I got to try one on later, and thus my itch was scratched. Other than that, no regrets.

Eloping is SO cool. I actually enjoyed the big wedding thing a lot, but then I used to like planning 500 person conventions, which is not far off.
We actually took a couple of hours off work and had a JP courthouse marriage in March before our big church wedding in June. Just us and two of our best friends. Ed had just qualified for health insurance, so we got hitched so I could be on it.
May marriage agree with you as much as it has agreed with me. May your love be as amazing as mine has been. May your families be as accepting of both of you and each other as ours have been. May the rough years pass you by, and may you cut straight to the good stuff!
