Rachel, I parodied the Skinny Jeans song from Skinny Songs back on kate's post about it. Best I could do, but it wasn't too bad. At least it was to good music (to the tune of Billie Jean) instead of that horrid skinny music on that CD. I can't help but feel kind of sorry for the woman, though - seriously. The songs were just sad in several ways, as happy as she meant them to be. Only on the cusp of fresh weight loss could anyone write like that, and it's...well sort of sad.

Hey, this is completely off topic, but I hope you wonderful, clever people can help me out. Several months ago I read an essay on the value of anger here on the fatosphere, but I can't remember where. IIRC, it talked about how anger can help us get important shit done.

I've looked around, but there are a heck of a lot of blogs here now (yay!) Can anyone help me out?

haven’t brought myself to actually listen to the songs just yet

I went to the website and listened to the clips, because I feel personally affronted as a songwriter that this kind of schlockery is being paraded around a if it is actual Music, and not horrid high school poetry being sung along to over-produced karaoke tapes. (Plus I'm a little bitter that this kind of bullshit gets on Oprah, when so many amazing musicians struggle in total obscurity. By which I don't *necessarily* mean myself.)

This is some of the worst alleged music I've ever endured. It has all the soul of a Coke Machine, and includes some of the most trite lyrics I've ever seen that weren't intended to be a joke. And that's not even getting to the part where I think the message of said lyrics is stupid and then some.

I haven't brought myself to actually listen to the songs just yet, but I plan to. I don't think mine will be the sort of review they intended.

Oh God, Tori. The lyrics. They're even worse than I could have imagined. Particularly "I'm a Hottie Now":

No, honey. That's called paranoia. Nobody else is thinking that much about you.
