RIP Jeanne Toombs

2008 March 31
by Kate Harding

Very sad news, in case you missed this in the feed. Fat rights activist and NAAFA Board member Jeanne Toombs has passed away from complications of pneumonia. There’s a tribute to her at NAAFA’s MySpace blog, with contact info for those who wish to send condolences.

You can read about Jeanne’s efforts to push forward the Massachusetts Height/Weight Discrimination Bill here.

Our thoughts are with Jeanne’s family and friends.

Just read it on the fat studies list. I can’t believe she’s gone.

How sad. My sympathies go out to her family and friends, and to all of us who could have benefited so much more from her efforts.
