Just Because You’re a Child Doesn’t Mean You’re Not Asking for It

Via Lauredhel, here’s your head-exploder of the day: Girl provoked pedophile – Judge.

A TEN-YEAR-OLD GIRL was raped by TWO MEN, and the one who was convicted on TWO COUNTS OF RAPE OF A CHILD UNDER THIRTEEN was sentenced to TWO YEARS and will be GETTING OUT AFTER ONE.

Sorry, didn’t mean to yell.

No, wait, YES I DID.

The sentence — which could have (and clearly should have) been life in prison — was so light because, according to Judge Julian Hall, she is a “sexually precocious” child who “liked to dress provocatively.”

She’s also TEN YEARS OLD.

Oh, but Judge Hall has an answer for that, too: “She looked 16.”

Is your brain still intact? Then get this:

The same judge caused uproar earlier this year by setting free another paedophile and telling him to give his victim money “to buy a nice new bicycle”.

Aaaand… kaboom.

Paedophiles have their number in society and in positions of power, full stop.

If it were his daughter…no, on second thought, he’d probably rape her himself.

(Sorry, but this shit just FROSTS me.)

This made me want to cry or scream or something. I used to work as a child advocate before I got sick and sold out to the man for money and better insurance. I can’t believe that any judge would be allowed to remain sitting on the bench after doling out a sentence like that. You know, lots of abuse victims are sexually precocious. Often, shockingly enough, because they’ve been abused. I guess she has a lifetime of hating herself to look forward to. Perhaps, someday, someone can share the judge’s ruling with her so that she can know she was worth just that much. Good lord.

I swear to God, I think my head is going to explode.

I don’t even know how to respond to this brand of awful.

Because it’s perfectly okay to rape 16 yr olds, right? Especially if they were wearing frilly underthings you could ONLY SEE BY TAKING OFF THEIR CLOTHES AND SEXUALLY ASSAULTING THEM.

Good god. What an utterly horrific story. I mean, you’d think that even the usual moron proponents of the “zomg she was ASKING for it you could see SKIN!!” theory would recognize that, whether 16 or 10, she’s still a kid.
I don’t tend to romanticize childhood, but let’s face it — rape is one of those things that’s even *more* awful when you’re too young to truly understand what’s going on.
    IMO.

Sidebar: Kate, I found your blog via — actually, I can’t really remember, possibly metaquotes on LJ — and have started going through your archives. I enjoy your writing style greatly, and I think you speak out on a lot of issues that need all the press and debate they can get. Well done!

Hanging is too good for this so-called man. Actually, flaying alive is too good for this so-called man.

I was molested by my next door neighbor at 10 years old.

I DIDN’T EVEN UNDERSTAND THAT IT WAS SEX until *much* later.

I cannot even process that a *judge* said these things.

I want to scream right now. She’s 10!!!! Anyone can be raped, even a prostitute, who the F cares how “sexually precocious”/scantily clad/looks older blah blah blah. What the hell is wrong with our legal system.

I’m so crazy madthat I wrote our legal system (I know it’s the UK), but sadly this kind of crap happens here all the time as well.

That judge should be disbarred. I wouldn’t be surprised to find he was a closet paedophile.

When will men like this realize it doesn’t matter what the circumstances, the minute a female says no, it’s rape.

  14. 2007 June 27

I don’t even know what to say, this is so beyond my comprehension.

From the Oxford Mail, some followup:

The case has now been referred to the Attorney General, Lord Goldsmith, the chief legal adviser to the Government, after the Crown Prosecution Service, which brought the case against Fenn, said it thought Judge Hall’s sentence was “too lenient”.

Lord Goldsmith has the power to pass the case to the Appeal Court for review of the sentence.

So the lesson here is to choose your victims carefully, and you’ll get a lighter sentence, I guess. I mean sure, it was wrong and all, but the little slut was obivously already a public utility. No harm, no foul. Is that it?

I have no words. None at all. Not that don’t involve multiple paragraphs of profanity.

  17. 2007 June 27

Any idea where I can write to complain about this Nazi scum judge bastard?

  18. 2007 June 29

I dont care if you walk down the street completely butt naked, it is NOT an open invitation for rape, and this should simply not factor in a rape/molestation case.
