Kate’s Plus Size Finds: Capris Edition

Capris look awful on me, but every spring, I start thinking maybe this year they won’t. Nope, they still do.

But maybe they look awesome on you, in which case, you might want one of these cute pairs.

Stretch twill cuffed capri, Lane Bryant, $39.50 (2 for $49), sizes 22-28

Note: Avenue also has some cute, relatively inexpensive ones up to size 32, but I took them off the list because linking to specific products never works with them. (I’d forgotten that.) Someone more motivated than me might want to send them a note telling them they’re fucking idiots for not fixing that issue.

  1. lauredhel, depending on the length, me too, but unless they’re straight-legs, the knee part still hits my mid calf, which is a problem. And when we’re talking capris that actually hit where they’re supposed to, my legs just look even shorter and even wider. A winning combination.

But I so want to love them.

  2. Capris always hit me like crop pants, about two or three inches above my ankle bone. It’s just a weird place. It makes my already short and wide legs look even shorter and wider. It’s very unfortunate, but not as unfortunate looking as the denim gauchos I tried on last year at the suggestion of the girl at Lane Bryant. Those were the worst.

  3. Have you tried slightly shorter capris than these? Not all the way at pedal pusher length (right at the knee) but close? I just had to try on a million pairs until I found a length that worked for me. And they are just damn cute.

  4. This is yet another example of why Eddie Bauer is the most underrated store in America. They have cute capris in all sizes for short women. Amen. Praise be to capris.

  5. Heh. I have exactly the opposite problem. Capris actually look quite nice on me – I’ve been told so repeatedly, and if I try on a pair and view the woman in the mirror as somebody else, I can see they’re right. But I hate them anyway. I just can’t bring myself to buy a pair, despite them being comfortable, fashionable, and even cute – on other people.
