New body acceptance blogger The Rotund has a post here that makes a bunch of fantastic points with a succinctness I can only dream of. I especially love the “I am not having sex with you” point:

It does not matter what health risks you think may be associated with being fat. I do not hate or shame you for your unhealthy habits; why should you hate or shame me for mine?

It does not matter what diet successfully worked for you. I have to live in my body, which is unique and responds to things quite differently than yours.

It does not matter that you personally do not think fat is sexy. I am not having sex with you; I am not required to meet your standards of sexy.

What does matter is this:

Fat people are just like you.

Check it out.

  1. Actually, I am the enemy.

But I would be if I were skinny, too.

Heh. I would say I’m the enemy, too, but the truth is, I get the vapors when I think anyone in the world doesn’t like me. I’m more the desperately oversolicitous friend.

But I would be that if I were skinny, too. :)
